This season tells the emotional final days of Jesus, played by Jonathan Roumie. As Jesus enters Jerusalem, he’s welcomed like a king. But his actions against corrupt merchants cause a stir. Religious leaders grow uneasy, and betrayal brews. Jesus shares the last supper with his disciples, unaware of the dark path Judas is about to take. The Chosen is a unique historical drama that explores the life of Jesus Christ through the eyes of the people who followed him. Set in first-century Israel during Roman rule, it gives a personal and powerful look at Jesus’ teachings and how they impacted the world. With more than 250 million views, it’s one of the most-watched faith-based shows globally. The series is created by Dallas Jenkins and produced by 5&2 Studios.
Production has already started for Season 6, which will focus on the crucifixion of Jesus. It’s being filmed in both the United States and Italy. A seventh and final season will follow the resurrection.
Amazon MGM Studios also signed a new deal with 5&2 Studios earlier this year. This includes streaming rights for Seasons 1 through 5, plus a new reality series called The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls. Lionsgate is handling the international distribution.
