Prime Video Drops First Look at Spy Thriller ‘Butterfly’ Starring Daniel Dae Kim
Prime Video has shared the first official images from its upcoming action-packed spy thriller Butterfly. The show features a talented cast including Daniel Dae Kim, Piper Perabo, Reina Hardesty, and Louis Landau.
Butterfly is inspired by the graphic novel from BOOM! Studios, originally created by Arash Amel. The series dives deep into the emotional ties of family while unfolding inside the dangerous world of international spying.
At the center of the story is David Jung, played by Daniel Dae Kim. Jung is a former U.S. intelligence agent who now lives a quiet life in South Korea. However, his past catches up with him, forcing him back into a life of danger. A decision he made years ago leads to deadly consequences in the present.
Soon, he becomes the target of Rebecca, a young and ruthless agent played by Reina Hardesty. She works for a mysterious organization known as Caddis, which wants David eliminated at all costs.
All six episodes of Butterfly will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting August 13.
Daniel Dae Kim not only stars in the series but also serves as an executive producer. His production company, 3AD, developed the show under a first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios.
The series is brought to life by showrunner Ken Woodruff, known for The Mentalist and Gotham. He co-created the show with award-winning author Steph Cha.
Speaking about the project, Kim shared his excitement:
“Butterfly is a dream project. It brings together storytellers from both America and Korea, two cultures that mean a lot to me. I’m proud of the incredible team we’ve put together on both sides of the camera. Big thanks to Ken Woodruff, BOOM! Studios, Amazon, and everyone who helped make this possible.”
With a gripping plot, international intrigue, and a strong creative team, Butterfly promises to be one of Prime Video’s must-watch spy thriller of the year.
