Exclusive Interview: Dean Devlin Talks Leverage: Redemption Season 3, Character Growth, and What’s Next

The third season of Leverage: Redemption may have wrapped up, but fans are still talking. With thrilling heists, emotional moments, and a strong fight for justice, the show continues to leave its mark. We caught up with executive producer Dean Devlin to hear about the show’s growth, challenges, and what could be coming next.

A Team That Chooses Each Other

One of the best things about Leverage: Redemption is the tight bond between the crew. They’re more than teammates, they’re family. But as Dean Devlin shared, their connection isn’t based on blood. It’s built on choice and trust.

“These characters picked each other,” Devlin said. “They weren’t born into this family, they created it. And that bond gets stronger with time. But growing as a group doesn’t mean they stop changing as individuals.”

Season 3 dives into that idea. While the team stays loyal, each person faces new struggles. Some have fears. Others want different things. And that can cause tension.

Devlin also talked about the creative process. Before filming begins, the cast meets with the writers to shape their character journeys. “These actors know their roles inside and out,” he said. “Their input helps build the season. It’s one of my favorite parts of making the show.”

Season 3 Reflects Real Life

Past seasons of Leverage: Redemption often felt ahead of their time. But Season 3 focuses on what’s happening right now. “This time, we didn’t look into the future, we looked at what people are facing today,” Devlin explained. “We’re covering real issues. Topics that matter.”

The team still stands up for the underdog. Week after week, they go after the powerful to help the helpless. That’s the heart of the show. And according to Devlin, Season 3 was their biggest challenge so far.

“We aimed high this year,” he said. “Even with a small budget, we pulled off action scenes in Europe. It wasn’t easy, but it paid off.”

He believes this season is the strongest one yet. “We tried a few new things, three episodes really stand out. If you’re a longtime fan, you’ll love it. If you’re new, this is a great place to start.”

Fan Favorites and Future Hopes

Fans of Leverage love the guest stars. Season 3 brought back familiar faces, but Devlin is still hoping to bring back one more. “I’d love to see Wil Wheaton return as Chaos,” he said. “He’s such a great character.”

And what about Season 4? Nothing official yet, but Devlin teased the future with a laugh. “John Rogers and I decided to stop after Season 27,” he joked. “We’ll call it quits then.”

Looks like the con is far from over. Whether you’re a loyal viewer or just jumping in, there’s more Leverage: Redemption to enjoy.

Season 3 is now streaming on Prime Video UK.
