UEFA Champions League Hits Record-Breaking Viewership on Prime Video in UK and Ireland
The UEFA Champions League 2024-25 season became a massive hit on Prime Video, setting new records for sports viewership in the UK and Ireland.
Over 13 million football fans tuned in to watch the tournament on Prime Video. This made it the most-watched sports season ever on the platform in Europe.
Prime Video aired one key match every Tuesday throughout the season. In total, 17 matches were streamed live—from the play-offs to the semi-finals. Each game included in-depth pre-match coverage and expert insights from a high-profile team. Names like Gabby Logan, Wayne Rooney, Clarence Seedorf, Daniel Sturridge, Alex Aljoe, Alan Shearer, and Jon Champion brought their voices and experience to the screen.
The knockout stage drew in even more viewers. Big matches broke individual records for live sports on Prime Video in the UK.
The clash between PSG and Liverpool reached over 5 million viewers, marking the highest-ever audience for a live game on the platform. PSG’s semi-final win over Arsenal also brought in more than 5 million viewers. Other major matchups, including Arsenal and Manchester City’s battles with Real Madrid, gathered audiences of over 4 million each.
All of these games surpassed the previous viewership record held by the Premier League match between Arsenal and Manchester City in February 2023.
