Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2, Episode 3 Recap: Masha Keeps Pulling the Strings

In episode 3 of Nine Perfect Strangers season 2, Masha continues to manipulate those around her, especially David Sharpe. Now that David has arrived at the wellness retreat, Masha focuses on getting into his head. She takes him on a snowy walk, convincing him to remove his shoes by claiming it’s healthy for the body. Soon after, she dives into icy water and encourages David to do the same.

David clearly has something to prove. He wants to show he’s strong and capable, just like others. His ego shines through, and he remains unsure about Masha’s methods. The show hints that these two have some history, but it hasn’t revealed everything just yet.

Tensions Rise Between David and Peter

After David nearly freezes, Masha brings him to a guest’s room. It’s not a surprise that the guest turns out to be his son, Peter. Peter had no idea his father was coming, and their reunion is tense and awkward. The distance between them is obvious, leaving viewers curious about their backstory and what caused the rift.

Masha’s Control Grows Stronger

Another important reveal is that Masha is using a signal jammer to block cell phone reception. David briefly gets a signal, but only because Masha allows it. Earlier, the show mentioned bad reception in the area, so adding a jammer seems like Masha wants total control over the environment, and the people in it.

Sister Agnes Looks for Forgiveness While High

Meanwhile, Martin goes ahead with the first experiment. Masha isn’t around to supervise, and it looks like she trusted Martin to handle things. But by the end of the episode, it’s clear he made the decision on his own, and Masha might not be happy about that.

As the group gets high during the experiment, everyone reacts differently. Peter and Imogen play out a bizarre children’s story. Others run through the house, trying to face their fears. Tina, however, has a bad reaction, which deeply worries Martin. He starts to see that things are spiraling out of control.

The Painful Past of Sister Agnes

Sister Agnes sneaks away and ends up in a nearby village. There, she finds a church and enters a confessional. We finally learn why she distanced herself from her religious order. Years ago, a pregnant woman came to the hospital where Agnes worked. The labor wasn’t going well, and the woman was bleeding. Agnes wanted to help, but the Mother Superior refused to go against what she called “God’s will.” Sadly, the woman and her baby both died.

This trauma still haunts Sister Agnes. She now believes she was wrong to blindly follow her superior. She begs for God’s forgiveness. In a heartbreaking moment, she realizes the priest’s side of the confessional is empty.

Overwhelmed by guilt, she starts hitting her head on the confessional box until she injures herself. Police arrest her shortly after. Martin goes to bail her out. With Tina’s incident and now Sister Agnes’s breakdown, Martin realizes the experiment might be going off-track.

What’s Next for the Guests?

Now that David is officially part of the group, Masha’s experiment might begin in full. But there are still big questions. What exactly happened to Tina? Will Sister Agnes be willing to stay after her emotional breakdown? And how will Masha react to Martin’s decision to move ahead without her?

Stay tuned to see how these stories unfold in the next episode of Nine Perfect Strangers.
