Gen V season 2 trailer: Prime Video’s blood-soaked spinoff is back — and it’s setting the stage for a war in The Boys season 5

Amazon has officially confirmed that Gen V season 2 will premiere on September 17, 2025, on Prime Video. The announcement was made during Mexico Comic-Con (CCXP) on May 31, 2025, and it has stirred excitement among fans of The Boys universe.

Like other Prime Video originals, the season will begin with a three-episode premiere. After that, one new episode will drop every week. The season finale is scheduled for October 22, 2025.

What the Trailer Reveals About Gen V Season 2?

The official trailer gives fans a lot to look forward to. One of the biggest surprises is that Marie, Jordan, and Emma are back at Godolkin University. This is unexpected since the three were imprisoned by Vought at the end of season 1. The trailer doesn’t explain how or why they were released, which adds to the mystery.

Their return appears to be part of a larger plot involving Homelander and the growing conflict between humans and Supes. The trailer hints at a much darker and more intense season.

What’s the Story This Time?

According to the season synopsis, school is back in session, but the mood is tense. With Homelander tightening his grip on the country, life at Godolkin University is far from normal. The new dean promises to train students to become more powerful than ever before.

Meanwhile, Cate and Sam are praised as heroes. In contrast, Marie, Jordan, and Emma return feeling broken and weighed down by everything they’ve lost. While parties and lectures continue on the surface, trouble is building both inside and outside the campus walls.

The group soon uncovers a secret program that has existed since the university’s beginning. This mysterious operation could change everything they know about their school—and Marie is somehow tied to it in a major way.

Season 2 also addresses the absence of Andre, played by Chance Perdomo in season 1. The actor sadly passed away in a motorcycle accident in March 2024. Rather than recasting the role, the creators made changes to the story to explain his character’s absence in a meaningful and respectful way. This is expected to become one of the most emotional parts of the new season.

Main Cast Returns with a New Face

The second season brings back several key characters from the first. Jaz Sinclair returns as Marie Moreau, continuing her journey as the series’ main character. Lizze Broadway will reprise her role as Emma Meyer, while Maddie Phillips comes back as Cate Dunlap. London Thor and Derek Luh will once again play Jordan Li, and Asa Germann returns as Sam Riordan. Sean Patrick Thomas is also back as Polarity.

A new character is joining the story as well. Hamish Linklater, known for his roles in Midnight Mass and Batman: Caped Crusader, will appear as Cipher, the new dean of Godolkin University. His character is said to have a complicated moral outlook and will play a major role in shaping the school’s direction.

Connection to The Boys Season 5

Gen V season 2 is not just continuing its own storyline—it also sets the stage for the final season of The Boys. The teaser includes a brief appearance from Firecracker, a character from The Boys, hinting at a deeper crossover.

The plot also reveals that Cipher may be planning to build an army of Supes loyal to Homelander, which could lead directly into the events of The Boys season 5. This setup makes season 2 of Gen V an important piece in the larger universe.

What’s Coming Next for The Boys Universe

Filming for The Boys season 5 is already in progress. While there’s no official release date yet, it’s expected to arrive in 2026. Until then, Gen V season 2 promises plenty of action, drama, and major plot developments that will lead straight into the final chapter of the main series.
